Down On The Beach in Bexhill.
FREE FOUR DAY WORKSHOP
Aimed at all 14 to 25 year olds we’ll be exploring and learning what is really happening on our local shoreline and in our sea. Each day will have a different theme including: Plastic on the beach, our warming seas and pollutants in the sea.
Run by local residents, former water pollution chemist, and now science lecturer, Jane Ripley and artist and educator Gemma Lloyd.
We’ll be running it as learning by doing, so it’s not sit down lectures but exploring togther, encouraging lots of questions and we’ll all be responding to our discoveries with a creative response. This could take the form of a film, it could be drawing, it could be a sculpture out of any plastics we find, or it could be a voice memo or sketching on the back of a cereal packet. What ever works for you is perfect for us.
4 days in the holidays. 11-4pm: Thurs 24th July, Fri 25th July, Thurs 31st July, Fri 1st Aug. Half the day we’ll be on the beach and the other half in a creative space on London Road, Bexhill and we’ll stop for an hours lunch each day.
All the creative responses will be documented and fed into a second project running towards the end of the year.
We’re taking maximum 12 people and ideally you should be able to attend all four workshops but if you can’t, come to as much as you can and we’ll be dividing the age groups so you’ll be with your peers.
Thank you so much Sea Changers for all the amazing support that have made this possible.
Any questions, let us have them.
